Grand County
Beautiful, historic and welcoming mountain towns.
Western Denver
Foothills: A majestic and scenic entry to the city.
Grand County and all our beautiful towns are close to Denver and Denver International Airport. The County is just over Berthoud Pass, from I-70, and starts with the town of Winter Park, home of Winter Park Resort, named best ski resort by USA Today. Driving 1 mile past Winter Park is Fraser with hundreds of miles of trails followed by Tabernash, Granby and Grand Lake as you drive north. At the base of Rocky Mountain National Park sits the town of Grand Lake with three major lakes right next to it for winter and summer recreation. If you continue West on Highway 40 you will arrive at Hot Sulphur Springs, named for its historic hot springs, and then Kremmling which is nestled between Steamboat Springs and Summit County.
Western Denver is the gateway to the mountains for play and adventure and serving as a passageway to the city and beyond to the plains of Colorado. With the historic City of Golden with its Coors industry and the legendary School of Mines, it is a quaint little gold rush city with old homes from 1859. Lakewood was incorporated about 100 years later in 1969 and is Colorado’s fifth largest most populous city. Featuring the trendy BelMar District, Lakewood has neighborhoods for all. With Green Mountain Mesa, Bear Creek Reservoir, and the South Platte River running through the area, there are tons of outdoor activities for everyone. Morrison serves the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and remains a quaint little stop that parallels I70. Known most for building stone and industrial stone, the town was founded closer to 1874. Just a few short years later, dinosaur remains were discovered and shipped to Yale, thus thrusting Morrison into the famed the 19th Century ‘Bone Wars.’ Littleton was also a gold rush town and was incorporated in 1890. The Martin Marietta facilities, home of the Titan rocket and other aerospace products, were nearby. Perhaps the most notable and sad noteworthy event nearby Littleton was the Columbine School shooting of 1999. Downtown Littleton is worth the time to explore with restaurants and shops all around.
